On my first post I talked briefly about my current internship. I would like to go into some more detail about it.
The March of Dimes has done a lot of work helping people, from birth to seniority, stay alive. The reason you are reading this right now is because of their work. Pretty cool right? You’re darn tootin’.
You can go and read their bio on their website, cough cough http://www.marchofdimes.com/mission/history_indepth.html cough cough, but basically they cured polio, got action in place to get folic acid in foods so babies are born healthy, and are now working to eradicate premature birth. Like I said, they are fighting for every person born.
But anyways, on to my job. I am the Communications intern, I help create media lists to send our Public Service Announcements (PSAs), help script events and write TV script formats. Super Super cool. What they don’t tell you is the amount of sorting and moving of heavy items that are necessary for each event that we do.
I’m not mad though, I don’t mind. Being the only guy there, usually I kind of expect it.
Our March for Babies event is coming up, and that is where we will be raising money for our prematurity campaign by gaining sponsorships and walking five kilometers in a large group. There is also a 5K run earlier for people who are more masochistic in nature.
Most people walk though. If you want to get involved it’s not too late. The walk is on April 27th and we hope as many people come as possible. There will be free food (college kids I see your mouths watering from here), lots of entertainment for the kiddos (and adults still living in kid world), and it’s all for a good cause. Sign up and enlist your friends to join your team here:
Anyways I will update this with more info as I do more cool things, I just thought I would give an overview of what I have done so far. If you would like more info, comment below. Also follow this blog. For real hit the follow button. Pretty please?
